Bridesmaids, New Trends and Do's and Don't

I think we can all agree, The Royal Wedding kicked off this year’s wedding season. We’re in full throttle ladies and there is so much to look forward to. Love is in the air, couples are gearing up to say their “I do’s” but before they do, there is much to be done.  In leau of the movie “Bridesmaids” in theaters, we’re dedicating this blog post to Bridesmaids, their do’s and dont’s and the open sea of fashionable dresses available to make your bridal party look spectacular.

There is so many dresses to choose from out there, how does a bride make it special for her ladies to stand out as they walk down the aisle? Aside from spectacular hair and make up, the perfect dress is key. When picking a dress for your bridesmaids, remember that it should be a silhouette that flatters all different body types, such as a one shoulder dress which is a hot trend this year.  Retailers these days, are jumping on creating bridal lines that offer you stand out dresses at affordable price points. Here are some recent bridal lines that have hit the wedding scene:

Vera Wang for David’s Bridal—This could quite possibly be the best collaboration for bridesmaids in fashion history! Whoever thought you would be able to purchase a Vera Wang design for under $200?  The line debuts on June 1st with a set of seven dresses in hues such as orchid, amethyst, and champagne.  Here’s one of my favorites from the collection:

Let me just say, they’re amazing and every bride should be waiting outside a David’s Bridal when they finally hit stores!

B H L D N—The Urban Outfitters brand does it again. Stemming off of their success with Anthropologie’s feminine silhouettes and details, the brand came gave birth to a wedding line that sets themselves apart from the rest.  The easy to navigate site allows you to search and adore dresses that have a vintage, classic feel you can’t find anywhere else.  Knee length dresses take up much of their bridesmaids collection, so if you’re looking to have a wedding along the beach, or up on Cape Cod, I encourage you to check this collection out.  Only downside, no direct store to try anything on.  However they have a killer return policy. Order away brides!

Here are some quick tips to ensure you have the best looking and most reliable bridesmaids on your big day:

• Do make sure they all have similar but never exact hair, makeup, shoes and jewelry.
• Do make sure one of them can be your go to girl for any day-of-wedding touch ups and emergencies.  They always happen!
• Don’t worry so much. Your bridesmaids will be there every step of the way. Rely on them as much as you can and don’t forget to have fun!
