The one feeling most brides are terrified about during their wedding stress isn’t about the flowers or the caterers arriving with the right food or how many additional guests mom decided to invite beyond capacity—it’s will I fit in the dress? She promised the seamstress she’d drop 4 dress sizes, but hasn’t had the time to exercise since the engagement. I’m sure you’ve heard this story through many of your own friends experiences and if not, some celebrity on E Hollywood True Story. If you’re newly engaged, don’t be one of these stories, rise above the panic and follow the following the tips (that I’m sure you already know but we’re here to remind you) to chipping away at those unwanted pounds and looking ridiculously amazing on your big day.
WATER IS YOURE NEW BFF
You know when your doctor or trainer tells you to drink 8-10 glasses of water a day? Well, they mean business. Not only does water make your skin looking healthy and glowing, it makes you feel full. Have water first thing in the morning and before each meal. I’m sure you’ve tried this and found drinking this much water is a lot harder than it seems, right? Try it in small doses—buy bottles and keep them in your most frequently visited places (desk at work, bedside, car, gym bag). Where ever it is, make sure its accessible at all times.
EXERCISE
This is a no brainer but it’s the dirty truth. Research shows, dieting alone just doesn’t cut it these days. The two hand in hand truly do make a difference. Best tip? Do it in the morning. It sets your tone for the day. 3-4 days of cardio along side 1-2 days of weights. But if you’re serious, kick it up. Cardio is the only way to burn the fat. Interval training is the best kind around and light weights with frequent reps keep you looking long and lean. Need some peace and quiet? Yoga helps you de-stress away from the wedding and keep you looking relaxed.
EAT SMALL BUT FREQUENT MEALS
Brides, you all have a tendency to starve yourself right before your wedding. Not smart—you’ll just be cranky and bitter you can’t eat like everyone else! What’s the fun in being moody at your pre-wedding events? Here are my tips I follow on a daily basis: Eat small but healthy. Always listen to your body when it’s full. Keep small snacks around. Remember, you’re working so hard for the wedding of your dreams, rewarding yourself wont kill you, in fact it’ll make you happier. Satisfaction is key in life. Don’t forget the little things.
STAY ON TRACK
It’s hard enough to remember all the details for the wedding (that’s why you hire SOSN ;)) but it’s important to keep yourself on track. Phones these days have apps that allow you to track your meals to make sure you’re not falling off. Try it out for yourself. Track your meals one week and don’t the next. I can almost guarantee you ate far more calories the week you didn’t track them. If it’s important for you to reach your ideal weight, measuring the progress is part of the process. Key to this? Don’t be too hard on yourself. Okay, so you had a cookie, big deal. Don’t have another one for the rest of the week. Also, if you can’t find the exact calorie content, it’s okay. As long as you have an idea, you’re much further than knowing nothing.
These are my four favorite things to remember during this process of losing weight during stressful wedding planning. Part of being a bride is also being happy, all eyes on you. If you feel fantastic and happy, it will be contagious!
